Why visit Turin?

Turin is a large city in the Piedmont region of Italy that is surrounded by the beautiful Italian Alps. The city was Italy’s first capital and boasts numerous monuments and museums that testify to its historical significance. Nowadays, Turin is a major centre of industry, design and chocolate production.

The city has a rich history that dates back to the Roman times. Make sure to visit the Egyptian Museum, one of the best of its kind in the world, where you can see the largest collection of Egyptian artefacts outside of Cairo.

Another must-see is the Basilica di Superga, where you can climb to the top of the church steeple to enjoy fantastic views of the city and its surroundings. The historic Royal Palace of Turin is also worth visiting. It once belonged to the House of Savoy and is lavishly adorned with intricate murals and beautiful ceiling decorations.

Turin is only a short drive from several fantastic ski areas in the Italian Alps, such as the Olympic city of Sestriere and the Bardonecchia ski resort. Here you’ll find slopes for all levels of skiers, from beginners to advanced. Another option is a day trip to the gorgeous Maggiore and Como lakes if visiting Turin in the summertime.
