Tenerife Spain

Why visit Tenerife?

Tenerife is one of the most popular winter sun destinations in the world. That’s no surprise – the largest of Spain’s Canary Islands, it has warm, sunny days throughout the year (temperatures rarely drop below 20°C) and little rainfall. The most famous resorts on Tenerife are the lively Playa de las Americas and Costa Adeje where you’ll find Papagayo Beach Club, with its five bars, Balinese beds, beachside terraces and nightclub. If you want a quieter time away from the crowds, head into the dramatic volcanic interior, which has exceptional hiking trails – especially on Mount Teide.

To skip the walk, take the Mount Teide Cable Car to the top for spectacular views. Astrotourism is taking off in a big way on Tenerife, which is one of the best places in the world for stargazing. Discover the delights of the night sky at the Teide Observatory. More spectacular observations can be made on the water: a whale watching trip gives you the chance to spot one of the 26 different species swimming off the island’s south coast. Back on land, golfers are spoilt for choice, with eight modern courses with amazing ocean views.
