Planning your next adventure in the great outdoors? From skis to golf clubs, travelling with your gear couldn't be easier.

Before you fly

  1. Check that your sports equipment is the right size (avoid those unwanted excess charges!).
  2. Label your equipment and pack it in a hard case, where possible.
  3. Print out your travel receipt and bring it to the airport so we can see what you've paid for.
  4. Make sure you check in and deliver your bags to us at least one hour before departure.

Skis and snowboards

Max 23 kg

Off to a winter wonderland? You can bring a ski- or snowboard bag and a smaller bag for a pair of ski or snowboard boots, with a combined weight of 23 kilos. The bags can only contain relevant skiing or snowboarding equipment (that means sportswear need to go in your regular checked baggage).

Protect your bike

  • Your bike must be packed in a hard case designed especially for transporting bikes to avoid damage.
  • For bikes not packed in a hard case, the handles must be turned around, pedals taken off, tires deflated and other additional parts removed or covered.
  • We don't sell protective bike boxes at the airport, but you can rent hard bike cases at selected airports.

 Electric bikes cannot be transported as checked baggage, even if the battery is disconnected or removed as they are considered to be hazardous goods.

Fishing rods

Your fishing rods must be packed in suitable hard casing.

Diving equipment

Heading underwater? You can pack:

  • one scuba tank (empty), one scuba regulator
  • one tank harness, one tank pressure gauge
  • one mask, two fins, one snorkel
  • one knife, one spear gun and one safety vest

Sports weapons and ammunition

Max 23 kg

Weapons and ammunition for hunting or competitions can be carried in your checked baggage at an extra fee, but as safety is always our first priority, there are some restrictions.

Conditions for travelling with a weapon:

  • You must advise our check-in staff if you're travelling with a weapon or ammunition.
  • You must carry identification and documentation from your relevant state agency that indicates you are authorised to carry the weapon and relevant ammunition.
  • You must pack the weapon in a locked hard case. 
  • If possible, the weapon shall be set in an inoperable state by removing a vital part. The parts may be transported in the same locked hard case.
  • You may bring up to 5 kg of ammunition. Depending on the rules of the departing country, ammunition may be packed in the same locked hard case as the weapon if designer for it, or in or as checked baggage in a manufacturers original package or in an ammunition box designed for that purpose. Remember to verify which exact rules apply for your travel.

Other sports equipment

You're welcome to bring other types of sports equipment we haven't mentioned as checked baggage, provided they fit within our size and weight limits.

This equipment will count towards your checked baggage allowance, and any item over the 2 bag limit or over 23 kg will be charged as excess baggage.

Size and weight limits

Check that your sports equipment is the right size (avoid those unwanted excess charges!).

  • We will not accept any item that's heavier than 32 kg or lighter than 2 kg.
  • Your gear must not exceed 250 x 79 x 112 cm (L x H x W) with max. circumference 300 cm.

 Excess baggage

Excess baggage charges apply to any additional pieces over the 2 checked bags and 1 small checked bag limit.
 Excess baggage charges also apply to any checked bag weighing over 23 kg and any small checked bag weighing over 10kg – 16 USD per kilo, per leg.

Made your booking with a travel agency?

You may not have the ability to pre-book optional services online. If this is the case, you will need to pay for this service at the airport, and the higher airport price will apply.
