What am I covered for?
Premium medical coverage (including COVID-19)

Baggage protection in case of loss, theft, damage and delay
- Up to 800 EUR in case of baggage loss, theft and damage while on your trip
- Up to 150 EUR for baggage delay
Travel delay coverage
- Up to 150 EUR or meals, accommodation and transportation expenses in case of travel delay or denied boarding (e.g. suspected COVID-19)
Cancellation Protection is not included

How and when can I buy the Travel Insurance?
You can buy Travel Insurance by Allianz Travel:
- When you are booking your Norwegian flight tickets
- Or, after you have booked you ticket, up until 1 calendar date before departure here
- You can also buy an extension to an existing travel after departure here. You can buy up until 7 extra days per extension and the entire trip duration can not exceed 31 days. All extensions must be purchased before your existing policy expires. It is not permitted to purchase a new policy once you have departed your home country.
How can I pay for the Travel Insurance?
Travel Insurance can be paid:
- The same way as you pay for your ticket when booking. Note that CashPoints are not an accepted form of payment for Travel Insurance
- With all major credit and debit cards on the dedicated site for purchasing Travel Insurance here.
Who can purchase and be covered by the Travel Insurance?
Travel Insurance is only available for residents of Norway, Sweden, Denmark or Finland.
Is there any age limit when buying Travel Insurance?
No age limit applies when buying Travel Insurance.
In which countries does the Travel Insurance policy provide cover?
Your policy covers you to travel to any of the follwoing countries:

Does the Travel Insurance cover all my trip even if all travel is not provided by Norwegian?
The travel insurance policy covers all your travel for the period shown on your Certificate of Insurance as long as at least one flight of your itinerary is booked with Norwegian. If these dates are not representative of your entire trip then you should contact Norwegian Customer Care:
- Within 14 days of purchase, you can request cancellation here, and purchase a new policy for the entire trip duration here.
- Outside the 14 days of purchase, you can buy a new policy here. Once you have bought the new policy, you should request a cancellation and refund of your existing policy here clearly stating your policy number.
The above information is only valid if you have not travelled, made a claim or intend to make a claim.
I am travelling to a destination not covered by Norwegian. Will the Travel Insurance provide me with cover?
You are only covered in any of the following countries:

What is the maximum trip duration which I can be covered for?
The Travel Insurance policy can covers you up to 31 consecutive days inclusive of any voluntary extensions. Trip durations exceeding 31 days will not be covered.
Does the Travel Insurance cover business trips?
The Travel Insurance covers both business and leisure travel.
When does the Travel Insurance policy cover start?
The cover takes effect once you leave your home on the day of your Norwegian flight departure or from 00.01am, whichever is the later.
When does the Travel Insurance policy cover end?
You are covered until 23:59 on the end date of your insurance, or when you reach your home, whichever is sooner. If you are not travelling directly home from the airport, please contact claims.awpeurope@allianz.com for guidance.
My flight is delayed. What am I covered for?
You are covered for up to 150 EUR per insured person, per 24 hour period of delay, with a maximum of 48 hours. The benefit applies after a minimum delay of 4 hours. See FAQ “How do I file a claim?” for next steps.
My baggage is delayed. What am I covered for?
You are covered for up to 150 EUR for the replacement of essential items for delays of more than 12 hours. See FAQ “How do I file a claim?” for next steps.
I need to see a doctor/dentist. What should I do?
- When treatment in a hospital is required due to Illness or Accident, contact the emergency medical assistance team at: +31107989836 or claims.awpeurope@allianz.com;
- If you see a doctor, keep the receipt and submit a claim for reimbursement (See FAQ “How do I file a claim?”).
- Emergency dental is covered up to 300 EUR

I want to cancel my Flex ticket before outbound departure, will I get a refund on the Travel Insurance also after the 14 days cooling off period?
For flexible tickets we have flexible insurance. If you cancel your Flex ticket round trip you will get a full refund on your Travel Insurance. Refunds will be refunded within 4 weeks.
I want to cancel my return Flex ticket during my trip, can I cancel my Travel Insurance?
Once you have started your travel your Travel Insurance policy is in use and no longer refundable.
I want to change my flight(s) before I have started the trip. Can I also change my Travel Insurance?
- If you wish to change your flight(s) before your trip has started (extend trip period), the Travel Insurance policy will be updated accordingly. You will receive new policy documents outlining the changes and you will be charged for any additional days.
- If you wish to change your flight(s) before your trip has started (reduce trip period), the Travel Insurance policy will be updated accordingly and you will receive new policy documents outlining the changes. You will also be provided with information on how to request a refund on the cost difference between the original and the new policy.
- If you wish to change your flight(s) after your trip has started (extend trip period), go here. You may purchase an extension to your existing policy as long as the entire trip duration does not exceed 31 days. All extensions must be purchased before your existing policy expires. It is not permitted to purchase a new policy once you have departed your home country.
- If you wish to change your flight(s) after your trip has started (reduce trip period), the Travel Insurance policy cannot be changed, but your existing policy will still cover you for your period of travel. You will not be eligible for a refund as the policy has already commenced.
I want to change my flight(s) to a different time on the same day(s). Is my Travel Insurance still valid?
The Travel Insurance is valid when the dates are not changed.
I want to change the airport(s) of my flight(s), is my Travel Insurance still valid?
- If you change airport within the same country the Travel Insurance is still valid
- If you change airport to another country the Insurance remains valid if:
a) the departure country you wish to change to is one of the either four; Norway, Sweden, Denmark or Finland, or

My flight(s) have been changed by Norwegian, what happens to my policy?
- When Norwegian changes your flight(s), you will receive confirmation from Norwegian of the proposed changes. If you choose to accept these changes, the Travel Insurance will be updated accordingly, and you will receive new policy documentation from Allianz Travel.
- If the trip period is extended by a calendar day or more (but not exceeding 31 days), then Norwegian will cover the cost of the additional policy days.
- If the trip period is reduced by a calendar day or more, then you are entitled to a refund of the cost difference. If your trip exceeds 31 days then your insurance will be invalid and you will be offered a full refund. You can apply for a refund here. Refunds will be processed within 4 weeks.
- This information is also included in the flight change email notification which you will receive from Norwegian.
Disclaimer:
In the period Norwegian is rolling out this new product ancillary in our markets, the process related to flight changes may be slightly different. You may not receive new policy documentationin case of a data change. However, you will still be covered for the new travel period, when the flight change is initated by Norwegian.

You can locate your policy number in the confirmation email from Allianz Travel that is sent to the lead name in the policy.
How quickly will my claim to Allianz Travel be paid?
Within 10 working days if the event/circumstances surrounding your claim are covered and all requested documents have been provided. Allianz Travel will contact you if they do not have all requested documentation or have additional questions.
What should I do if I disagree with the calculation/assessment of my claim to Allianz Travel?
Email the Claims Teams at Allianz Travel at: claims.awpeurope@allianz.com with a detailed explanation. The team will then review the initial assessment and confirm the outcome.
I have bought Travel Insurance, but changed my mind. Can I cancel a policy?
You are entitled to a full refund of your Travel Insurance booked with LowFare tickets within 14 days of purchase, or at any time if booked with Flex tickets, providing you have not travelled, made a claim or intend to make a claim. Request a cancellation here.
How can I cancel my Travel Insurance?
- You are entitled to a refund if you cancel your Travel Insurance policy within 14 days of purchase for LowFare tickets, providing you have not travelled, made a claim or intend to make a claim. Request a cancellation here. Please allow up to 4 weeks to receive the refund.
- For LowFare-tickets, you can cancel your Travel Insurance after the 14 days cooling off period, but you will not get a refund.

I paid for my Travel Insurance by credit card and have now applied for a refund. Can I be paid by bank transfer?
You will always be refunded your Travel Insurance via the means of payment used in the original purchase.
How is my personal data related to the Travel Insurance by Allianz Travel used?

I want to cancel my Flex ticket before outbound departure. Is the Travel Insurance still valid if I travel with another airline or another mode of transportation?
The Travel Insurance is only valid if used in conjunction with at least one Norwegian flight. In the event of a claim you may be required to provide evidence of your travel itenarary and your claim may be declined.
