Hand baggage

We know it's nice to have what you need at your fingertips. That's why all our tickets include a generous hand baggage allowance – just be careful not to overpack!

One carry-on bag included

  • You can always bring one carry-on bag in the cabin free of charge.
  • You can also bring one small personal item on board. This could be a little handbag or a slim laptop case that fits comfortably under the seat in front of you.
  • Your ticket type will determine how heavy your hand baggage can be.

Size and weight limits

LowFare, Lowfare+, Flex, Premium

  • 1 carry-on bag: max. 55x40x23 cm
  • 1 small personal item: max. 25x33x20 cm

Travelling to/from Dubai? Your hand baggage must not exceed 8 kg. This is due to weight restrictions on board these flights.

Children and infants

Infant (under 2 years)

There is no hand baggage allowance for infant tickets, but you can bring a reasonable amount of baby food and milk/formula for the flight.

Children (2 to 11 years)

If you purchase a child ticket, your child can bring the amount of hand baggage and checked baggage that their ticket type allows.

Extra charges for oversized carry-on baggage

Rolling or folding? The debate about the ultimate packing method will seemingly never end. We won’t weigh in. But we might weigh your hand baggage, and here’s why: making sure everyone stays within the allowance, we avoid delays from having to offload excess carry-ons, and we make more room for you and for your baggage that’s actually within the limits.

With Norwegian, everyone’s allowed one carry-on bag and one small personal item on board for free. But please, do check which weight and size limits apply to your ticket type before you roll or fold, and help us take off on time.

If your carry-on exceeds the limits according to your ticket type, you will need to check it into the aircraft hold for an extra charge. Checked baggage is charged per item, per one way.

Direct flights

  • Domestic: 50 EUR
  • International: 80 EUR

Connecting flights

  • Domestic/domestic: 100 EUR
  • Domestic/international: 130 EUR
  • International/international: 160 EUR

If you’ve already checked in two items of baggage, then you will be charged for excess baggage – 11 EUR per kilo, per leg.

If a flight is full and everyone has maxed out their hand baggage allowance, there’s the off chance we have to put your carry-on in the hold even if you’ve done everything right.

For these rare cases we do apologise, and there’s of course no charge.
In these situations we recommend that you remove any travel documents, ID papers, medication and fragile or valuable items from your carry-on bag.
