How to do Los Angeles

From seeing the back of the Hollywood sign to finding LA’s best secret beach, local experts share their insider tips on Norwegian’s new destination

See a Modernist icon

Photographer Andrew Edelstein is a mid-century architecture obsessive who runs tours of Los Angeles’s Modernist Case Study Houses (CSH)

“The CSH programme was an experiment started by John Entenza, publisher of Arts & Architecture magazine, in the early 1940s. He commissioned the best architects in LA, who were also his friends, to come up with ideas for around 30 homes that would go on to be some of the world’s most iconic. On our tours, we go to the Eames House (850 Pico Blvd), a beautiful glass and steel structure built for the legendary design couple Charles and Ray Eames, and the Stahl House (above; 1635 Woods Dr), which was designed by Pierre Koenig for regular guy Clarence (Buck) Stahl.”
