La Rambla

In medieval times La Rambla was a dry riverbed that acted as a gutter for Barcelona’s effluent. Cynics might argue it hasn’t changed much since! While there’s an undeniable sleazy side to this central boulevard, where hawkers, prostitutes and pick pockets all ply their trade, it’s also home to street performers, mime artists, flower sellers and theatre-goers. For sheer bravado and energy La Rambla is hard to beat.

La Rambla.
