Picasso spent several years in Barcelona on and off between 1895 and 1905, and held his first-ever exhibition in the city’s now famous Els Quatre Gats café. This museum possesses 3,800 of his works, from early sketches to his experiments with Cubism, and is particularly rich in paintings from the Blue and Rose Periods. A rewarding insight into the evolution of perhaps the 20th century’s greatest artist.
