Kasteel Amerongen

The village of Amerongen is home to the castle where Kaiser Wilhelm was exiled after World War I. The current structure dates from the 17th century, rebuilt after the French destroyed the medieval one. The interior, filled with fine furniture and porcelain, is 19th century. Your visit is accompanied by a 35-minute film presentation on 21 screens created by celebrated UK filmmaker Peter Greenaway. The castle is near Driebergen-Zeist, 40 minutes via Utrecht, €9 one way from Amsterdam Centraal.
