Museum Island

Five world-class art museums populate the island in the River Spree, which was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999. A stroll through the beautiful 19th-century architectural ensemble is as rewarding as a visit to one of the museums. Equally fascinating is the modern building work according to designs by British architect David Chipperfield, which fill in parts of the island destroyed during the war.
