What is your best travel tip?
Mallorca! I love the island because it has everything. A big city with shopping, cafes, culture and cathedrals, wonderful beaches and hiking opportunities. And you can easily travel to Palma from Copenhagen in three hours. On my last visit,  we rented a car and went to the village of Deià. There is the Asian fusion restaurant Nama, which has absolutely fantastic food and location, with a view of mountain peaks and forests.

Rui´s Majorca tips

Restaurant Forn
Located in the old town of Palma, and used to be an old bakery. They have the best tapas I have ever eaten.

Cala Mondrago
Located on the southeast side, this treasure is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. The water here is crystal clear.

Restaurant NAMA
Located in the small town of Deià, and really worth a visit. They have very good modern Asian food, and spectacular views.

What do you always pack in your suitcase?
Good trainers and training clothes. It is a must for both training and excursions when travelling. I never walk around with headphones as a tourist. I like to take in all the sounds and smells, feel the pulse of the city and hear the local language.

How did you land in Norwegian?
I have dreamt of becoming a pilot since I was five years old as that was my first time traveling by plane. Dad worked for a Swedish shipping company, and since our parents wanted to give us a better future, they decided to move from Cape Verde to Gothenburg. I was sad because we had to leave our house and my grandparents. At the same time, from that day on I have been deeply fascinated by everything airborde, and I decided early on to take pilot training.

What's the weirdest thing you've seen from the cockpit?
Last week I flew to Sicily, and then we passed the active volcano Mont Etna from which smoke was coming out. It was a spectacular sight. It did not erupt, and was of course completely safe to pass. Safety is the most important thing when we fly.

What characterises a Norwegian employee for you?
Happy people who are inclusive and willing to go the extra mile to help each other.
