Why visit Denver?

Denver is more than just the gateway to the Rockies, it’s also one of America’s hottest new foodie cities, craft-beer capitals and the home of a buzzing arts, festival and music scene; all with 300 days of sunshine a year.

Local hotspot

Denver isn’t actually in the Rockies (it’s actually located 12-miles east on a high desert plain) but the mountains are where Denverites play, with some of the best skiing, hiking and biking in the country just a short drive away.

You probably didn’t know

Denver’s called ‘The Mile High City’ because its official elevation, measured at the steps of the State Capitol Building sits at exactly 5,280-feet (1600m) above sea level. The sun feels warmer, golf balls hit farther and alcoholic drinks pack twice the punch.

Suggested reading/viewing about Denver

It Happened in Denver (Stephen Grace, 2007) – historic tales that shaped the Mile High City. Or watch 1990s crime classic Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead.
