The company holds one Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC): ICAO: NAX. An AOC is an operational and technical approval issued by a country’s Civil Aviation Authority which grants the holder the right to conduct commercial flights.
Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA is determined to focus its operations on its core competencies. The company has a strategy of extensive outsourcing, most notably handling services on all airports the airline serves and heavy maintenance. Line maintenance is performed in-house for efficiency purposes.
The current majority of the fleet consists of dry-leased aircraft except from five aircraft that are on the company’s balance sheet. Norwegian has an order with the Boeing Company for the purchase of 63 Boeing 737-800 aircraft between 2009 and 2014.
