Amsterdam’s largest park is named after the poet whose statue was unveiled here shortly after it opened in 1865. Featuring a pavilion where free concerts are given in summer, the Vondelpark also provides six play areas, one large playground, skate rental and kids’ shows in the open-air theatre. There are plenty of ponds too, if you just want to watch the birds over a picnic.
