1. What is CallNorwegian?
CallNorwegian is an app for iPhone and Android smartphones which allows you to phone home when travelling in other countries. With CallNorwegian you can call other CallNorwegian users for free or any other phone number at a fraction of the price you normally pay - which could save you from receiving huge phone calls after calling abroad. CallNorwegian also allows you to call from the sky when flying with Norwegian’s WiFi equipped airplanes.
2. Will CallNorwegian work on my phone?
CallNorwegian can be used by anyone with an iPhone or Android phone, regardless of which phone subscription you have. More info on supported models below:
iPhone: CallNorwegian supports iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S running iOS 4.0 or later. iPod touch and iPad are partially supported.
Android: CallNorwegian supports most Android devices. Samsung Galaxy SII is currently unsupported, but we are working on a fix. Android tablets are partially supported.
3. CallNorwegian sounds great! So how much will it cost me?
The CallNorwegian app is free! You can also call other CallNorwegian users for free. You can call any non-CallNorwegian user for 0,1€ per minute to any country in Europe, or 0,2€ per minute to anywhere else in the world.
4. How can I get CallNorwegian?
CallNorwegian is available for download from the App Store and Android Market/Google Play. After downloading, launch the app and register with your e-mail and phone number.
5. How can I buy calling minutes?
iPhone: You can buy minutes from within the app by using your iTunes Store account.
Android: You can buy minutes from within the app by using your credit card or Norwegian Reward CashPoints.
6. Will my mobile provider charge me for using CallNorwegian?
CallNorwegian sends data over your active data network (WiFi, EDGE, 3G, 4G). If you have enabled the use of cellular data in your CallNorwegian settings, depending on your mobile service plan, you may incur data traffic costs.
7. Will CallNorwegian work with my 3G network?
Yes. You can use CallNorwegian over your cellular data network. Although, to get the best CallNorwegian experience when making calls we recommend that you use CallNorwegian over a WiFi network. When using CallNorwegian over a 3G network your operator may charge you for data traffic costs.
8. Can I call my contacts for free?
If your contacts have also downloaded CallNorwegian you can call them for free. Free calling is limited to CallNorwegian contacts and to selected numbers with other partners, Goji and Telio Touch. CallNorwegian is committed to broadening its free calling reach as the service expands and evolves.
9. Can I invite others to use CallNorwegian?
Yes, and please do! Inviting your family and friends to use CallNorwegian is as easy as sending a text message or e-mail. Simply push the More/Share tab in CallNorwegian and select either Send E-Mail or Send SMS under Share with friends. Once your invitee has registered, their name will display on your CallNorwegian contacts list and a CallNorwegian icon will display alongside their name in your contact list, and you can immediately connect with them via CallNorwegian.
10. Can I import my contacts to CallNorwegian?
CallNorwegian automatically synchronizes with your phone's address book the first time you use it. CallNorwegian remains synched to the address book thereafter, so whenever you make changes to your address book those changes are reflected in your CallNorwegian contact list.
11. Can I delete contacts from my CallNorwegian contact list?
The contact list in CallNorwegian is synchronized to your phone's contact list, so you must delete the contact from your phone in order for it to disappear from your CallNorwegian contact list.
12. Why doesn’t CallNorwegian recognize some of my contacts who I know are registered with CallNorwegian?
CallNorwegian is best at recognizing numbers that are stored in your phone's contact list with the correct international call prefix. Check that the correct international call prefix is present in the contact list entry for each unrecognized CallNorwegian contact, and edit the information if necessary. Next, update your CallNorwegian contact list by pressing the refresh button in the top right corner of the screen. The unrecognized contacts should display, however if this is not the case the contact might not be registered with CallNorwegian.
13. How does CallNorwegian use my Contacts information?
CallNorwegian accesses the contacts information on your phone for the sole purpose of keeping up-to-date with which of your contacts are also using CallNorwegian. In this way CallNorwegian is able to indicate which of your contacts you can call for free.
