Searching for the treasures of Oslo

While Oslo is the capital and the largest city in Norway, it is far from being just a concrete jungle. You will find “green lungs”, diverse animal life and influences from all corners of the world here. Each area of the city has its own charm and character attracting permanent residents of the city and tourists in equal measure. Here you have some slightly more unusual experiences.

- Go island hopping in the Oslo fjord: enticing, idyllic and tranquil island life is just a short ferry trip from the centre of Oslo.

- High above: Tryvann is situated on a hill 20 minutes from the centre of Oslo.  A complete alpine ski package is available in winter, and in summer there is a super theme park with one of the biggest climbing parks in Scandinavia and also a large cycle park.

- Blå: a concert and club venue in the old diamond storage warehouse in Brenneriveien near the Akerselva River. Listen to jazz, electronic, hip-hop, pop and rock. Literary events are also held regularly here behind the blue doors.

- Ghost tours of the fortress: Is Akershus Castle haunted? Some people think so! Tours, taking you back thousands of years in time, are held in the evenings.

- The little chocolate snowball factory: A special café with numerous varieties of coconut and chocolate snowballs. See how they are made, while enjoying some samples.

- Oslo’s Opera Roof: Go for a walk in Norway’s most urbane “park”, and enjoy a picnic on the marble flagstones on the roof of the opera house. In the summer, there are often big concerts on the roof.
